Everyday issues that interrupt a small team

What is included

Support scoped around your business

  • No long contract for ad-hoc support
  • Business impact considered first
  • Expected cost agreed before work
  • Clear notes and recommendations
  • Remote and Belfast on-site options
  • Support boundaries stated honestly

Useful support now, with a sensible route towards managed IT later.

A small business may not need a full managed-service contract on day one, but it still needs dependable email, protected accounts and devices that work. Keelfort offers straightforward ad-hoc help while identifying recurring problems that may justify a more structured service later.

Monthly support is discussed only after the users, devices and business needs are understood. Keelfort does not currently advertise guaranteed 24/7 coverage or pretend to be a large service desk. The value is direct communication, careful troubleshooting and advice sized for the business in front of us.

Pay-as-you-go help for sole traders and small teams

Get support for day-to-day email, user accounts, computers, shared files, printers and connectivity. Tell Stuart how many people are affected and whether work has stopped. That helps establish the impact, the next step and whether remote support or a Belfast visit makes sense.

New starters, account access and backup planning

Keelfort can help prepare devices and business email for new users, review access needs and discuss practical backup arrangements. Existing licences, administrative permissions and business requirements are checked before a change is agreed.

Support around your working day

Keep people working, from their first day to their last

You do not need a long list of technical terms to ask for help. Start with what someone cannot do, when it needs to work and who can approve changes.

Day-to-day IT support

A slow PC, a printer that disappears or software that will not open can hold up ordinary work. Keelfort checks who is affected, what changed and which task matters most, then investigates the likely cause. Describe the symptoms rather than trying to diagnose the fault yourself.

Computer and everyday IT help

A new employee starting

Plan the start date, device, Microsoft 365 account, licence, email, MFA and applications before the first day. The business approves access to shared files and systems. Setup can include a PC or laptop, essential updates and a clear handover; subscriptions and equipment are separate.

Microsoft 365 setup support

An employee leaving

Agree the leaving time and who is authorised to request account changes. Tasks may include blocking sign-in, revoking sessions, reviewing access and arranging an approved mailbox or file handover. Retention needs must be checked before deleting accounts or removing licences. Complex or disputed departures need specialist advice.

Read the Microsoft 365 leaver checklist

Microsoft 365 and business email

Get help with users, licences, Outlook, email delivery, OneDrive, Teams access and basic administration. Existing ownership, subscriptions and permissions are checked before changes. For a migration or complex tenant setup, the work is assessed separately rather than treated as a routine quick fix.

Microsoft 365 and Outlook help

PCs, laptops and new devices

Help can cover software faults, updates, account setup, printers and essential applications. New equipment should fit the work, not just the highest specification on the shelf. Physical damage, component-level repair and failed-drive recovery may require another specialist.

Device troubleshooting and setup

Networking and office Wi-Fi

Unreliable connectivity can affect just one device, the wireless network or the whole internet connection. Keelfort checks the scope before suggesting changes to routers, switches or access points. Work on business networks needs an agreed window; complex cabling and managed installations require a separate assessment.

Wi-Fi and network support

Everyday security basics

Practical improvements include MFA, updates, appropriate account permissions and safer device settings. Agree what can change without disrupting the business. This is basic security support, not a penetration test, compliance sign-off or a guarantee against an attack.

Account and device security basics

Backup and recovery planning

Identify essential files, email and application data, where copies are kept and who checks them. Discuss how much work you could afford to lose and how quickly you need access restored. Storage, implementation and restore testing are scoped separately; continuous monitoring and guaranteed disaster recovery are not included.

Business backup support

Discuss your IT setup with Stuart. Include the number of users and devices, your location and what is getting in the way.

Remote help or a Belfast visit?

Remote support

Email, software and account settings can often be checked remotely when the device starts and has internet access. Access is arranged with your permission. Suitable remote support is available across Northern Ireland; availability is confirmed before booking.

On-site support

Physical connections, equipment setup and Wi-Fi coverage can need a visit. Belfast is the main on-site area; surrounding areas are considered by arrangement. Give your postcode and any building-access or parking requirements so travel and scope can be agreed first.

One-off help or managed IT support?

Ad-hoc support suits a specific problem or a clearly scoped job. A managed service is an ongoing agreement defining what is maintained, monitored and supported, when help is available and how issues are escalated.

Keelfort’s pay-as-you-go service

Book help with a device, business email, account or network issue. Agree the work and expected cost first. This can suit a sole trader or small team that needs occasional assistance rather than a full outsourced IT department.

When you need an ongoing agreement

If losing access for a few hours would stop your business, define your required support hours, response targets, backup checks and escalation arrangements before choosing cover. Keelfort’s ad-hoc service does not include continuous monitoring or a guaranteed response time. Regular support is assessed separately.

Prepare for a useful first conversation

List the number of users and devices, your email provider, who administers the accounts and which tasks cannot wait. For a new starter, include the start date, required applications and who can approve access. Keep passwords and employee or customer records out of the enquiry.

Discuss your business support needs, or read about Belfast on-site support if physical equipment needs checking.

Is Keelfort the right fit?

A practical fit for smaller setups

Sole traders and small teams needing direct, clearly scoped help with everyday technology. This can suit a one-off fault, a new starter or a planned improvement where appointment availability works for the business.

When another provider may suit better

A business needing a staffed 24/7 service desk, guaranteed response times, complex infrastructure management, formal compliance work or specialist incident response needs an appropriately equipped provider. Tell Stuart about those requirements at the start; an ad-hoc booking is not a substitute for that cover.

Learn about Keelfort’s owner-led approach or ask whether your setup is within scope.

Before we start

Agree the scope before changing business systems

When remote help fits

User accounts, email and suitable software problems can often be handled remotely with business approval.

When a visit helps

Belfast visits can suit device setup, physical connections and office Wi-Fi checks. Surrounding areas are considered individually.

Outside the standard scope

Ad-hoc support does not include continuous monitoring, guaranteed response times, 24/7 cover or specialist regulated work.

What to send with your enquiry

Include users and devices, your postcode, the business impact, any deadline and who can approve access. Avoid employee or customer records in the enquiry.

Stuart reviews the description, checks suitability and availability, then agrees the scope and expected cost before work. Ask about this service or review the published prices.

Discuss your problem
Do I need to sign a managed IT contract?

No long contract is needed for ad-hoc support. Regular support can be discussed after the users, devices and business requirements are understood.

What does small-business support cost?

The published business-support guide starts at £45 for the first hour. Regular support and projects are assessed and quoted separately. Parts, subscriptions, licences and travel outside Belfast are separate; the expected cost is agreed first.

Do you provide a 24/7 help desk or guaranteed response time?

No guaranteed 24/7 coverage or response-time agreement is included in the ad-hoc service. Availability is confirmed when you enquire. If your business needs continuous cover, say so before booking.

Can you work with our existing Microsoft 365 and network?

Yes, subject to the setup and appropriate access. Keelfort assesses the current environment before recommending changes and explains when work needs your existing provider or a specialist.
